Nope, .........I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you?

So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people. They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, Secret Service agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winning former Governors.

Not only that, but now the ACLU who is totally without A CLUe, is trying to make random backpack searches in NYC illegal. It is totally ridiculous. Am I saying that all Muslim males between the ages of 17 and 40 are extremists? No. I know many Muslim males through my work who are kind, caring, hard working people, family men, who abhor the events that are going on. But look at the records, look at the numbers, the percentages, the facts and you come up with Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40 doing the majority of the terroristic activities around the world. Even in the Sudan, the atrocities in Africa, the genocide, those were and are perpetrated by Muslim males. When is liberal America going to wake up and smell the coffee on this one?

As a liberal (I wanted to start off by saying that!) I agree with you. I personally, having watched the Twin Towers with smoke pouring out of them on 9/11, want more profiling of the people that actually perpetrate these atrocities. Every time I have to take my shoes off at the aiport I think to myself - I am a white middle class chick - I am not packing bombs in my shoes.

However...having said that...I do think its a slippery slope because it does take freedoms away from a group of Americans. And right now its Muslims, but who will be next? And at what point do we get to tell the gov't- ok, you have taken enough freedoms from us now? Once the freedoms are gone, I don't think we'll be getting them back any time soon.

What's the answer? I don't know. There has to be some answer in the middle somewhere, kwim? (Sorry for the lost comment...got myself riled up there).

Well written, Nic.

Over here in England, extremist clerics are praising the bombers that carry them out...and get away with it.

Nic, I totally agree with you. I am not one to agree with racial or ethnic profiling, but, c'mon, this is a no-brainer and has to be addressed rationally.

Nic - With you on this one.... I'll submit to as many searches as are required to minimize the risk we have any further incidents!!

Hi Nic,
Would you be kind enough to tell me where I can get that "...as for me and my house..." banner.

Thank you.
